Christopher Kypros received his graduate degree (M.M.) in 1973 from The Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied with Sascha Gorodnitzki.  Kypros completed his undergraduate studies at Old Dominion University. He has appeared as guest soloist with the Virginia Symphony and the Jacksonville Symphony, with Skitch Henderson conducting, as well as with the Virginia Beach Symphony Orchestra and regional college orchestras. As a chamber musician, he has performed with the Feldman String Quartet, the LeHigh String Quartet, and the Norfolk Chamber Consort.  His solo appearances include a concert at The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

From 1977 to 1982, Kypros was a member of the piano faculty at the College of William and Mary.  He subsequently joined the faculty of Norfolk Academy, where he taught music from the elementary level to the high school level for nineteen years. Since 2005, Kypros has been on the faculty at Saint Patrick Catholic School, in Norfolk, VA.

Kypros has extensive experience in musical theater, having served as musical director in local theaters for over sixty productions. Kypros also performs original piano accompaniments for silent movie classics. He has appeared as an actor in numerous community theater productions and on television for New Dominion Pictures. A composer as well, his compositions include Liturgy of Peace, Liturgy of Hope, and Liturgy of Light. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to the music of the Greek Orthodox Church. Kypros has also conducted choral workshops across the United States.  As an author, his children’s book, Lullaby for Alana, is available online and at various retail bookstores.
